Singapore's only UNESCO World Heritage Site is a 165-year-old green lung containing a patch of primary rainforest older than the garden itself. The National Orchid Garden displays over a thousand species and twice as many hybrids.
Insider tip: The gardens are free and open 5am to midnight — pay the small Orchid Garden fee and go early morning, before the heat.

The 8.6-meter half-lion, half-fish has spouted into Marina Bay since 1972 as the city's official mascot — equal parts kitsch and pilgrimage. The promenade frames Marina Bay Sands and the nightly light shows.
Insider tip: Come at 7:30am for tourist-free photos or after dark when the bay lights up — the 'drinking the spout' shot needs the lower platform.
City Hall · $
The former Supreme Court and City Hall — where Japan surrendered Singapore in 1945 — now joined into the world's largest public collection of Southeast Asian modern art. The rooftop deck stares down the Padang to Marina Bay.

Three to four days covers Marina Bay, the heritage districts, Sentosa, and serious hawker eating without rushing. It also makes an ideal two-to-three-day stopover between long-haul flights — Changi Airport itself is worth arriving early for.
